The award-winning paper in collaboration with DEME-GSR describes detailed simulations of the dispersion of sediments during the collection of polymetallic nodules in the deep sea. The simulations lead to more accurate predictions of turbidity dispersion, allowing optimisation of mining operations for the reduction of environmental impacts.
