Le Tréport and Noirmoutier Offshore Wind Farms

IMDC has been working in close partnership with Tractebel (France and Belgium) to support the consortium of ENGIE, EDP Renewables and la Caisse des Dépôts which was awarded the government contract to develop and install two offshore wind parks with combined power generating potential of 1,000 MW in France.IMDC has been working in close partnership with Tractebel (France and Belgium) to support the consortium of ENGIE, EDP Renewables and la Caisse des Dépôts which was awarded the government contract to develop and install two offshore wind parks with combined power generating potential of 1,000 MW in France.

  • Geophysical studies, to obtain a precise map of the seabed, to know its depth, but also to obtain information as to the nature and thickness of the sediments on the sea floor;
  • Geotechnical studies, to collect data on the nature of the subsoil (type of rock, hardness, density etc.);
  •  Metocean studies, to collect data on the current and the swell in the project area.
  • On the basis of the results of these studies, conceptual engineering surveys have been carried out in order to appraise, calculate dimensions and then select the technical solutions for the various parts of the wind farm (foundations, cables, substation).

In 2018, IMDC has been engaged to: (i) Review HSSE documentation before Mobilisation Geotechnical Campaign; (ii) provide Client Representatives during geotechnical survey; (iii) prodive Client Representative during onshore lab test programme; and (iv) prepare Interpretative report.

Both projects are in the final preparatory phase and construction is expected to take up to three years between 2019 and 2022.
