Subsea cable & scour protection engineer (ref. 158)

Your role

You will be involved in all aspects of subsea power cable and scour protection projects, from feasibility and site selection phase, over preparation of Basis of Design and coordination of desktop and modelling studies and offshore site investigations, marine engineering and consultancy, subsea cables engineering including cable landfall, cable burial risk analysis, dynamic cables and mooring analysis, until writing of tender documents for marine contractors, coordination and supervision of EPCI engineering and construction works. 

With several projects in the pipeline, we need you to further roll-out our > 20 years’ experience in offshore renewables projects!

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Subsea Cable / Scour protection engineer to join our Blue Energy team in the management, technical execution, and quality assurance of our growing project portfolio in offshore renewables. Beside this, IMDC offers a range of services in the Blue Energy: offshore wind, subsea power cables, wave and tidal energy, hydro-environmental studies, metocean modelling and monitoring services, in which you will also be involved in.

Your profile

  • A degree in Coastal, Civil, Marine, Geoscience or Civil engineering.
  • 2 to 5 years’ experience in offshore wind projects.
  • Experience with scour assessment / scour protection projects for offshore wind farms.
  • Experience with subsea power cables projects.
  • Experience in floating offshore wind is a plus.
  • Experience in working with project developers and / or marine contractors.
  • Experience in working with OrcaFlex or other similar mooring analysis software is a plus. 
  • Knowledge of international guidelines. 
  • Capable of working independently and taking initiative but also able to work as part of a team.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English with excellent report writing skills. Portuguese and French are a plus. 
  • Project management skills in multi-disciplinary teams is a plus.
  • You enjoy working as an expert, providing technical advice in your area of expertise to junior colleagues.
  • You have commercial awareness and are engaged with clients and finding new project prospects.
  • You are willing to work on national and international projects and consider short missions in Europe as a welcome interruption of your daily office work.
