Software (Python) Developer with interest in Data Processing (Ref. 099)

IMDC is an international consultancy company providing advice about the development and management of water related projects in the offshore, marine, coastal and river environment. IMDC provides services to the renewable energy (offshore wind, wave and tidal), power generation (nuclear, gas), transmission infrastructure, navigation, integrated water risk management, ports & harbours, environmental and public sector markets (flood risks, coastal protection).

Job description

IMDC is looking for a software developer with solid analytical skills and a strong interest in data processing and statistics to be applied and further developed in studies related to hydraulic engineering, hydro-informatics and complex modelling. We are looking for a dynamic person with an innovative mindset, who’s able to work as part of a project team, but can also work independently and is not afraid of taking initiative. 

You will be able to discover different technical domains and be exposed to different aspects of the project both in a national and international context. You will be able to apply your relevant technical knowledge in a team of professionals both in the offices of IMDC and on site. By linking your technical knowledge to practical solutions, you provide our clients with the best technical and economical solutions.

Your profile

  • You have experience in software development, preferably in Python.
  • You have a strong interest in data processing and statistics.
  • You want to use those skills to contribute to a more sustainable use of our natural water resources.
  • Experience with scientific libraries such as numpy, scikit-learn and pandas is considered an asset. 
  • A theoretical statistical background is considered an asset.
  • Experience in water related engineering or hydrology is considered an asset.
  • You will work under supervision, but you show responsibility to meet planning, budget and technical requirements. You are pro-active, a team-player and you take initiative to report and ask for feedback.
  • Missions abroad are a welcome interruption of your daily office work. You are willing to work on national and international projects for short and longer periods.
  • You have excellent reporting skills, and are fluent in English (both in writing and verbally), French or Dutch is an advantage.
