Dredging Engineer - English (ref. 123)

IMDC is an international consultancy providing advice upon the development and management of water related projects in the offshore, marine, coastal and river environment. IMDC provides services to the renewable (offshore wind, wave and tidal energy), power generation (nuclear, gas), transmission infrastructure, navigation, integrated water risk management, ports & harbours, environmental and public sector markets (flood risks, coastal protection).

Your role

IMDC is looking for a dredging engineer with 3 to 5 years practical work experience with a dredging contractor and now has the ambition to apply this valuable experience on our marine, offshore and dredging projects. 

We are looking for a dynamic person, who is able to work as part of a project team, but can also work independently and can take initiative. You will discover different technical domains and be exposed to different aspects of a project, from offer phase to execution. You will be able to apply your relevant technical knowledge in a team of professionals both in the offices of IMDC and on site when required. By linking your dredging experience and knowledge to practical solutions, you will provide our clients with the best technical and economical solutions. 

Your profile

  • You have a university degree in civil, geotechnical engineering or equivalent. 
  • 3 to 5 years practical work experience with a dredging contractor: this experience can be on site, in production or in the tendering department. 
  • You are capable of analysing and managing large- and small-scale dredging projects, in delivery on time and on budget. 
  • You are able to prepare offers and write methodology for small and large scale dredging projects. 
  • In addition to dredging projects, you are also interested to be involved in or have experience in geotechnical/hydraulic design of marine structures. 
  • It is an asset if you can also demonstrate knowledge on one or more of the following topics : offshore installation techniques (of cables and/or pipelines); environmental impact of dredging works and mitigating measures; re-use of dredged material; project- and contract management on dredging and/or marine works. 
  • You look for creative solutions rather than just 'output' and you like to generate innovative ideas that can make the difference for our Clients.
  •  You are a team player, but are also able to work independently and show responsibility to meet the project planning, budget and technical requirements. You are pro-active in your progress and ask for feedback. 
  • You are willing to work on national and international projects and consider short missions abroad as a welcome interruption of your daily office work.
  • You are fluent in English (both in writing and verbally) but a good working knowledge of French and/or Dutch is also an asset.
