Your role

You will be involved in all aspects of ocean (wave and tidal) energy projects, from feasibility and energy resource assessment studies, through CFD modelling and mooring analysis, to site selection processes based on technology readiness and performance in view of developing roadmap strategies for commercial roll-out. With several projects in the pipeline, we need you to further strengthen our > 20 years’ experience in offshore renewables projects! 

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Ocean (wave and tidal) Energy Engineer to join our Blue Energy team in the management, technical execution and quality assurance of our growing project portfolio in ocean energy. IMDC offers, in addition, a range of services in the Blue Energy sector (offshore wind, subsea power cables, floating solar, hydro-environmental studies, metocean modelling and water monitoring services, in which you will also be involved. Your profile

  • You hold an master’s degree in Coastal, Mechanical, Naval / Marine or Civil Engineering or in areas considered to be related. Phd on ocean energy topic is a plus.
  • You have demonstrated experience (at least 3 years) in ocean energy (wave/tidal energy) projects, CFD modelling and/or physical lab model test.
  • Experience in performing metocean and hydrodynamics modelling is a plus.
  • Experience in working with OrcaFlex or other similar mooring analysis software is a plus 
  • You are familiar with international guidelines and certification. 
  • You are capable of working independently and taking initiative but also able to work as part of a team. 
  • You are fluent in written and spoken English and have excellent report writing skills. Other language skills like Dutch, French, Spanish or Portuguese is an advantage.
  • Project management skills in multi-disciplinary teams is a plus. 
  • You enjoy working as an expert, providing technical advice in your area of expertise to junior colleagues. 
  • You have commercial awareness; you engage with clients and understand their needs and are keen in finding new project prospects.
