Coastal infrastructures

Due to the global sea level rise, coastal protection is becoming a hot issue. IMDC provides an extensive range of services based on the combination of profound theoretical know-how in hydraulics, morphology and risk analysis as well as broad experience in technical solutions. Natural and sustainable options for coastal protection are investigated wherever feasible. "Soft" solutions include for example beach nourishments and appropiate coastal managment. These are complemented by the classic "hard" measures such as dikes, revetments, breakwaters and groynes. In coastal harbours quays, sluices, outlets and storm barriers are designed to withstand and protect the hinterland during storm events, in addition to their normal functionalities.
